Plan: the Board
A kanban of every to-do in the project, in status lanes you drag between — with mirrored items writing their status back to the milestone or activity behind them.
Board is the Plan tab for running the work rather than scheduling it. Where Calendar and Timeline ask when, the Board asks where is this up to — every project to-do as a card, in a lane per status.
Open it from the tab strip at the top of Plan.
The lanes
| Lane | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Backlog | Agreed but not queued up yet |
| Todo | Ready to be picked up |
| In Progress | Being worked on now |
| In Review | Waiting on someone else's eyes |
| Done | Finished |
| Cancelled | Dropped |
| Duplicate | Superseded by another to-do |
These are the same statuses milestones and activities use, so the Board and the rest of the plan speak one vocabulary.
Cancelled and Duplicate start collapsed when they have nothing active in them, so the board opens on the work that matters. Collapse any lane with the chevron in its header — it becomes a narrow strip showing its name and count, and you can still drop cards onto it. Collapsed lanes are remembered per project.
Moving work
- Drag a card to another lane to change its status.
- Drag a card within a lane to reorder it. The line between cards shows where it will land, and the order sticks for you on that project.
- Click a card's title to open the to-do in the detail pane.
Each card shows the activity or milestone it belongs to, its date range, and its owners. An overdue to-do shows its date in red.
What a status change actually changes
To-dos on the Board come from two places, and they behave differently on purpose.
- Mirrored to-dos — those that stand for an activity, a milestone, or a research or experience item. Dragging one writes the status back to the entity behind it, so moving a card to In Progress updates the activity itself, not just the board.
- Manual to-dos — ones you or the Agent created directly. These keep their lane on the Board, and marking one Done ticks it complete everywhere. A manual to-do with no lane of its own inherits the status of the activity it sits under.
Because of that write-through, the Board, the Overview outline, the Research list, and the To Dos panel never disagree about where something is up to.
